type='text'>DAVID HOPE

A PICTURE Review

Lets talk about black this is the cover of David’s Album A Picture” the first thing that sprung to me was Mr. Cash … but when I pressed play on the stereo I could hear some fantastic roots music with hints of bluegrass style playing over Irish traditional music, the lyrics on this album have a very moving and heart touching soul to them, very well written and produced maybe David could be Irelands answer to our own Cash or even Dylan very relaxed and yet “A Picture” makes great listening right to the end of this 10 track thriller thumbs up David and What a superb album….

Review by T.Halpin

RANK: ****** 6 OUT OF 6

WHY

RED Review

Four piece Canadian rock band causing a stir in the independent scene with the release of their album Red, creating some harmonic pop and rock melodies on this 12 track album with many critics finding their sound like U2 but I will have to agree to a certain point I think they have a great sound more progressive than most bands in this genre with some fantastic vocals and catchy radio tunes, the lyrics have a real deep poetic touch to them very close to Inxs and Simple minds this is one group with the potential of contains three tracks of mesmerizing tunes with flawless melodic rhythm.

Exhale – A very soft but lifting tune, the vocals express the lyrics very well with some nice dynamics coming from this tune with moody tones and uplifting melodies this has the feel of indie rock with a splash of pop.

Sell yourself – There is a few elements to be heard from this tune, folk rock with a bit of southern American style feel, I would have liked to hear more from the cool melody used in the intro on the keys but it still sounds sweet and very clean cut tune.

Karman line – This tune has a nice flow in the rhythm it kicks in like an early Pink Floyd number but changes in a nice way with the vocals carrying the tune very well, the piano work sounds too much like a Cold play song this tune lacks a bit of originality but sounds great.

Review by T.Halpin

RATE: **** 4 OUT type='text'>Deceptikon

I can't remember the last time I compared a vocalist to Faith No More's, Mike Patton but Deceptikon's Gareth, the singer/guitarist with Leicester metal outfit Deceptikon is exactly that on their EP 'Dark Hour' which is a major plus in my book. The EP delivers some monster, crushing metal riffs on tracks like 'Dark Hour' and 'Cirkus' along with twin guitars and gut shaking bass. All good metal fare with t he spin of Gareth and his unique edged vocals over the top. As a metal fan I have to give the thumbs up to Deceptikon, especially as they're not getting dragged into the Trivium/Avenged Sevenfold style stereotypical formats and I desperately want to big them up some more, but in some parts they do tend to get a bit lost in their own songs. Between slabs of quality rock there is the odd fight between the great and the ragged. The double bass drum blasts losing time for example in 'Dark Hour' or how the bass guitar seems to be playing another song completely to the rest of the band during the lead solo (and the rather ill-advised, meandering middle 8) in 'Cold'.

However, overall Deceptikon deliver some massive, big-assed crunching riffs and some great ideas despite occassionally getting a bit adventurous and going ragged around the edges, but hopefully this should tighten up with some regular gigging maybe, I hope so. Bravely, Deceptikon describe themselves in their bio as "...one of Leicesters leading metal acts". I'm not going to argue with them, I don't know any of Leicester's metal acts, leading or otherwise, but with the tools that they have already and a set of pipes like Gareths, they're in with a reasonable shout.
Review by Drumhead

RANK: **** 4 out of 6

Pavesi

Named after a dancehall in their home town of Donegal, Pavesi are a group of old mates who are having a second bloom in a band that were last together when at school (so clearly not callow youth...) but I have a real soft spot for that sort of, following your heart ethic. So, having come over all Seven Samurai, the guys have come up with a demo EP with three tracks. Now if you listen to the tracks blindly, you would might be forgiven for thinking that this was a young band on their first outing, the recordings sounding tentative an a little lacking in confidence and polish. But Pavesi's trump card is the really classy singing of the (superbly named) 'Duck Gallagher' which papers over any misgivings about I may have had about the often rudimentary backing. Making very pleasing-on-the-ear Eagles fronted by David Cassidy noises on 'Staring at the ground' to the more adventurous and almost Snow Patrol like 'Turnaround Year' where 'Duck' opens up a bit and displays some real quality and the chorus's become more anthemic.

If this was a band of young, wet-behind-the-ears teenagers I would be offering polite advice about them having room for improvement, having a good direction but to keep polishing up the playing and other educational stuff like that, but Pavesi aren't, they have got a good little sound going, and all I would say is; go enjoy yourselves gentlemen...
Review By Drumhead

RANK:*** 3 out of 6

The Eclectic

The Eclectic from Dublin have a lot of quality going on, from the state-of-the-art website (I know its only detail, but kudos for some great web design it has to be said) to the five gear laden musicians who have released a superbly recorded and produced EP called 'Breathe'.

Listing heavily towards the 'prog' edge of indie/heavy rock, The Eclectics have painstakingly crafted some fantastically well made songs. With layers, themes and carefully executed, expensive sounding production (loving the sampling on 'The Lobotomist'). Kevin O'Brien's vocals are self assured and in places silky smooth ('Scream') adding the gloss to the layers sounding every inch like Matt Bellamy (Muse). Each song sounds as if it has spent many months of rehearsal and studio time, and its paid off because the whole EP is lush. Rarely do I get unsigned bands presenting material as well finished and of as high quality as this.

Would I buy their EP? Damn right I would (and will) but on a tiny, cautionary note, while this is as good a slice of original, unsigned work as it gets the some stylings of similar bands such as Muse (Kevin is uncomfortably Bellamy-esque in parts) and Mogwai, that are very obvious but ultimately not debilitating. Forge their own path and the door is wide open for The Eclectics. Excellent stuff.

Review by Drumhead
RANK:****** 6 out of 6

Fusion Family

Fusion Family have provided me with an actual video of their single,{ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26VdND6ZKe0 } 'Smokers & Jokers' which, in itself makes for an excellent diversion for me, and any other interested parties as you can get a much better feel for a band in a video format. I would advise all upcoming bands to have a stab at it, even if it is just a 'Handycam', basic PC editing software and some of your mates in messing about in a local village hall, as seems to be the case in this video. Even basics such as these can raise your profile well above a basic demo (trust me I have personally witnessed literally hundreds of unlistened to CD's being tipped in a record company bin).

So, to the single 'Smokers & Jokers. A slightly stoned Arctic Monkeys meet The Ordinary Boys for a very non threatening, light and laddish, likeable cod-ska romp, extolling the virtues of, and supporting the legalisation of Cannabis. Now, I'm not here to theorise or point my moral compass at anyone, so I shall sit firmly on the fence on the subject matter! However what I *am* here to do is give my honest view on a bands product and prospects. I happen to know that Fusion Family are pretty decent guys and they have made a good tune, what is apparent however, is that they seem to have a little obsession going with their pet subject ('Smokers & Jokers' not being their only Ganja friendly homage). If your band are drawn together by a mutual interest, thats cool but unfortunately their tastes are not only liable to have their stated desire for record company interest as likely as interest in Jo Brand at a pole dancing audition, but it rather clearly makes their playing sound slightly 'baked' as well. Obviously, committed stoners will love the message but you have to remember, (and I have to point out) that if you want to get signed, as the band say they do, getting on your soapbox on a subject such as sponsoring grass, you will, whether you agree or not, be giving yourself an additional fence to negotiate in the great 'unsigned' steeplechase.

If and when the smoke clears a bit, a little more energy and sharpness would drive this band a lot further forward.
Review by Drumhead

RANK: *** 3 out of 6

Bocs Social

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bocs Social

Despite a pretty tongue-in-cheek. The song I've slipped on is 'Whoa' which is a fantastic little ska-lite, indie sing-a-long that makes you think of The Futureheads (or early Police if your old enough to know) and the chorus of...well.. There is always the possibility that such unrestricted access to the public could produce for an inferior product, but not a bit of it in Chris's case. His guitar based songs soar with effortless strength and a relaxed warmth. Chris's voice has a spring in its step and an unashamed freedom which radiates a joy in what he does. I'm sure that there are a number of comparisons to other singers that can be made but I got traces of Paddy McAloon, especially on 'Fix It' or when there's a band behind him on the catchy 'Road Trip' or 'Reliving' the sound really opens up to some great little rock tunes.

All in all, with Chris's hint of a Northern Irish accent and bouncy, driving music provides a definite modern American, West coast feel to the album, it feels right, upbeat and is superbly played and made. You can close your eyes through tracks like "Astronauts" and hear The Cure jamming with Editors or Michael Stipe fronting Elbow. Farstar have definitely crafted their sound down to a fine art, their post modern indie sound is mournful but not depressingly bleak, it has subtle layers of guitar and piano and enough clever production tricks to give the songs warmth and texture, without making them overblown or to try-hard. Shannons vocals are often fragile and passionate which is de rigeur for all good indie singers at the moment, but it doesn't sound contrived as it has the character and charm to enhance and lift all of the songs. Even the (slight) over-use of regularly repeated U2 influenced guitar lines or the ubiquitous overblown bio don't grate sufficiently to detract from the fact that these are well played, atmospheric and anthemic songs. True enough, the songs don't change in pace from one melancholic slow march to the next but they are genuinely indidual and strong enough pieces of songwriting to withstand that kind of scrutiny. From the uplifting 'There's a light in your eyes' to the excellent "cash only" via the REM-at-their-best "Getaway Face" I would strongly recommend a listen.

I would imagine that The Farstar are a rare beast in The States playing their particular brand of Snowpatrol-esque, Brit -Indie and while they must have a fairly small amount of competition there, they'd definitely be a bit more part of the herd in the UK. Which, is where they should try and come and play if they wanted to get a decent hearing. They look and definitely sound the definite article.

Strong songs well made
Review by Drumhead

RANK:***** 5 out of 6

www.myspace.com/farstar

The Random Nouns review

The Random Nouns are a bit duplicitous. You look at their Myspace page and there are such large dollops of casual humour and self deprication in their jottings that could be lulled into a false sense of light-hearted security. The Random Nouns music is very much, hot on the heels of the darker, mournful and more melancholy indie artists such as Richard Hawley, Nick Cave or Tom Waites. The songs are, on the one hand light and ethereal but also dark and moody in equal measure. Most songs are minimal but adequately supported by backing, usually strings and strummed guitar, to give a haunting open-space, minimalist feel. The vocals sit somewhere between the aforementioned Mr Hawley and Mr Morrisey in style and despite their best efforts (a horrible fret buzz on 'Sad but true' a few vocal flattening issues in some songs) TRN pull it off with some beguiling and hypnotic qualities which, for the life of me insists on making me listen to all the tracks all the way through.

So if you like the feel that melancholy, delicate and haunting tracks bring, The Random Nouns are your band. Of the future? Well currently if you've heard 'Valentine' by Richard Hawley, you've heard most of The Random Nouns' work (right down to the string accompaniment). But hey, there is plenty of room for more songs of that sort of quality. A bit of polishing on the finer details and a little less Hawley homage and you will have some mighty fine tunes coming through...
Review by Drumhead

RANK: **** 4 out of 6

www.myspace.com/garretbaker

RIOT POLICE REVIEW

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the name of a band doesn't necessarily effect their chances of success or failure (with a few notable exceptions). I liked the name 'Riot Police' when it slid across my screen and I though 'ooh some strident punk or perhaps a bit of industrial metal' but no, unfortunately for me, Riot Police from Kildare bare little resemblance to their rather hard-edged moniker.

This three piece offer some of the politest, saccharine, jingly pop songs heard outside of a church knees up. Not that this makes them a lesser band in anyway or the songs aren't pleasant enough, but for my tastes it sits on the rather wrong side of 'nice'. From the uber-clean twinkly guitar sound, to the recorded-in-one-take freshness and sing-a-long, REM-lite vocals. The songs are the brain-child of singer/guitarist Ross MacMahon and, hand-on-heart are all pretty well written. Ross and co. who obviously have the right stuff about them (although, unaccustomed as I am to commenting on other peoples reviews, I think that the quote on Riot Police's Myspace bio from Emma at The Voice magazine, was having a pretty surreal day when she gushingly compared Ross's vocals to Editors frontman Tom Smith) but it lacks in any sort of real energy or drive . Highlight of the songs on offer on Myspace is the more melancholic 'Lake' where things veer slightly more towards the darker side and shows Ross in his best light.

Maybe, with a bit of dirt rubbed in and some rock n roll magic dust sprinkled over them, Riot Police could grow into their name, otherwise the name and style are unlikely to really reflect each other in any way. Currently though, some nice ideas, perhaps which, with a bit of repackaging and working out, could grow into something stronger.
Review by Drumhead

RANK: *** 3 out of 6

www.myspace.com/riotpolicemusic

THE FIRST USB ALBUM..

downloadmusic.ie are putting together a fantastic album on USB if your band wants to take part in this read more at this link
http://www.downloadmusic.ie/wordpress/2008/02/23/compilation-album-update/

we would like to thank Downloadmusic.ie for having us on there panel of judges,

Alison Curtis - Today FM
Noel Taylor
Aoife Lanigan - Good Seed PR
Elvera Butler - Reekus Records
Jennie McCullough - Brused Fruit Promotions
Edison Waters - Vibe Music Management
Ron Healy - Irish Unsigned
Ray Foley - Today FM
Ken McGuire - Kilkenny Music
Rick O'Shea - 2FM
Roddy Cleere - WLRFM
Julie Feeney - Irish composer, singer and songwriter
Trev - MusicReview.com
Francie Conway - Ballyfermot College

ODi

ODi

'What You Deserve'

REVIEW

Odi (short for Claire Odium fact finders) is an ex-pat Irish girl now based in the UK. She is a singer/songwriter who manages to blend elements of Joan Armatrading's pathos, Beth Orton's eye for the quirky and deep with a touch of Dido's bedsit romance. She has released a new single, 'What You Deserve' a slow, soulful slice of folk/indie cross-over. Odi has a distinctive raw and in equal measure, fragile voice that is magnetic and immensely listenable. The single reminds me of 'Love and Affection' by the aforementioned Joan Armatrading and oozes warmth and intimacy. All this talent and good looks too - so why isn't she signed? Well with the raft of gigs coming up in the UK and Ireland and the quality of the single, you'd think it wasn't far off.

Review by Drumhead
Rank: ***** 5 out of 6

THE TRIPPS

THE TRIPPS

If your mate told you they were off to see a band called The Tripps, what would you think? An acid soaked, trippy style 60's influenced indie band. Oasis meets The Charlatans maybe? Well yes, The Tripps do exactly what it says on the tin.
The first track 'In the clouds' is definitely a 60's influenced song with a promising start despite lots of references to clouds, lollipops and berries plus a tinkly keyboard hookline and some great sounding (possibly sampled)drums. From there on in, the songs are trashed by some quite woefully off key vocals and backing vocals. Surely, I thought, just a demo or a one off aberration, so on to 'Sailing on a gun' an Oasis flavoured tune that also kicks off with some promise until those vocals come back to haunt again... a quarter note flat to the melody and also to each other throughout - then the guitar gets in on the tuning act, oh dear.
The track 'Pure Mind' again starts with enterprise, rock solid and crisp drums, twangy guitar hook then...bugger, some more flat vocals by which time I'm looking for the 'Esc' button. But what of the live version of Pure Mind (also available on Myspace) - maybe there's still hope? Well, the seperation of a decent backing tune to those infuriatingly off vocals are faithfully recreated. Surely somebody must have noticed this before? Thinking it was my ears I have invited listens from those around me who, I'm affraid to say have also cringed at the offending singing so its not just me.

The Tripps? A good idea, still-born by the basic flaw of singing really badly. Sorry but someone has to say it.
Review by Drumhead
RANK: 1 out of 6
you can check out this band at
www.myspace.com/davenolandm

THE DAMBUSKERS

THE DAMBUSKERS

Traditional folk music (thats 'traditional' as in guitars, fiddles and bodhrans et al) gets a bad rep from large sections of the uneducated public. With preconceptions of deeply earnest beard wearers in baggy jumpers chuffing on about 'hey nonnies' and such like with a well placed finger in the ear and a real ale in hand. Such a casual disrespect would undervalue centuries of real 'peoples music' that has filtered down the ages since Saxon times. It would also be ignorance to be unaware that folk music, both traditional and modern is one of the fastest growing (or I should say resurgent) genres of this decade with Radio 2 heavily spreading the gospel and artists and festivals popping up like a rash all over the UK and Ireland.

So in stride The Dambuskers from North Devon ( I will try and resist the temptation to use an 'ooh arr' at this point....oh bugger) who I suppose would best be described as the heavy rock of traditional folk. They play upbeat, bounce along, in your face folk with a capital 'F'. No apologetic froth & bubble minstrels these. Sure there's fiddles and bodhrans, but the songs are invariably about drinking, fighting and f... ahem...fair maidens and there's definitely an absence of holed knitwear or shaggy beards dunking in tankards of 'Bishops Gusset'. On their Myspace you have a selection live tracks which is probably one of the best environments to appreciate this band. You can almost smell the beer and feel the footstomping in the room marshalled by their very own Lemmy, Steve Ruffe. With songs like 'Drink down the moon' and 'Whiskey in the jar' (yes, that one) and the bouncing 'I'll tell me ma" you will get good fun, rollocking trad folk played with gusto and verve. Its infectious, steeped in history and for my money should be encouraged out of the West country pubs and more into the mainstream to show some of the home recording, laptop & songwriting software geeks what they're missing, and where they come from.
Review by Drumhead

RANK: ***** 5 out of 6

www.myspace.com/thedambuskers

THE KOSMOS

THE KOSMOS

The Kosmos are definitely trying to capture a specific sound. In the last 10 years or so there has been a wave of fashionistas who are generally urban based indie bands harking back to The Verve and latterly Richard Ashcroft, followed by bands like The Libertines, The Charlatans and and on through Babyshambles, The Zutons, The Magic Numbers and others where the notion of polished songwriting and high gloss production was replaced in favour of a more eclectic, earthy, unpolished almost 'anti production' sound, harking back to days of The Stooges and The Kinks era of of 'independance'. Sometimes its worked spectacularly well (Richard Ashcroft is without doubt an iconic songwriter who's stark poetic songs need little polishing) and in others its been a dubious battle of style over substance (Pete Doherty).
The Kosmos style finds themselves somewhere between all of these influences and it can be a bit hit and miss in quality. Clearly led from the front by singer Andrew Crayford who, from listening to the the songwriting and seeing his look is unmistakably influenced by the afore-mentioned Mr Ashcroft. From the 60's stylings and jangly indie guitar combo of the Sgt Pepper-esque 'Silent body language' to the Charlatan feel of 'Come down' to his own nod in the direction of Bitter Sweet Symphony in 'Save me' or the best of the bunch 'Evelyn', which strips back the previously rather ragged band to a much more palatable and haunting solo ballad that is head and shoulders above the rest of whats on offer.

"There are definitely some notable highs and lows in quality of The Kosmos offerings and when they fully discovers their own style and polishe up the music production they will be a very creditable band"

Review by Drumhead

RANK: **** 4 out of 6

www.myspace.com/kosmos7

THE DOLLDRUMS

THE DOLLDRUMS

As most bands upcoming on the scene in Ireland at the moment The Dolldrums give an edge to indie rock music as they like to call it but im hearing more of popped up punk melodies with a grunge flavor.... in a good way... this is one band that has created cunning and catchy tunes and have then down to a tee, with this 3 track stunner Ep with tunes like "Magic Car" pissed up popped punk with spilling in your face lyrics and a melody to get your body moving, this tune has some great potential across the media board. "Sarcastic Swipes" OK The Dolldrums express the indie feel in this tune with chorus and melody but lacks the kick that needs to be giving to the tune, if this is the anthem tune its too short but would be more of a live song than an Ep filler. "Ballad of a wheeler dealer" This is more of a different side to this band they still hold the great melodic approach but give more on the vocal and backing vocal, for one minute I could hear The Beatles maybe that is the indie influence in the band but this is not a bad tune by far.. it could be what they call a sneaker... maybe? but watch out for it, excellent stuff from The Dolldrums this Ep really impressed me this one goes in the collection big time.

Review by T.Halpin

RANK: ****** 6 out of 6

http://www.myspace.com/thedolldrums

SOMA STATE

SOMA STATE

My roots are from a classic rock background, so Wexfords' Soma State are up my particular alley. They play some particularly pleasing (on the neck muscles) kick ass rock choons that find themselves somewhere around the Audioslave, Pearl Jam or a non rapping RATM vibe. What I like particulalry is the willingness to mix up some new metal and classic rock ideas and influences rather than resort to cliche or aping those that have gone before, making their own stamp. The latest track, 'Lies', is tight and muscular and riffs along with a carefully balanced mix of power and aggression. Other tracks (available on their Myspace) are more upbeat and looser, such as 'Mistake' and 'Lose Myself' which bang along with some considerable authority and energy, headed up by the belting, if rather buried vocals of Mark O'Connor who carries himself with the quality of a more seasoned rock frontman - a fine set of pipes fella!

On a technical point, the tracks on offer are all top drawer but pretty well dominated by the volume of the bass guitar which (especially in 'Lies') as highly competent a bassist that Conor is, its too much. Its almost overshadowing the excellent work going on around it. When the bass is louder than a great singer like Mark - its time to pull that slider down on the desk a bit! Its just a mix thing.

In the world of "guitar rock", the term 'heavy metal' has been hijacked by the Kerrang & Metal Hammer crowd for their own purposes or there's those nice young emo boys... therefore leaving a huge void amongst those of us who don't actually want to wear eyeliner or have machine-gun bass drums banging off your skull. Soma State have retaken that middle ground with some aplomb and have injected some freshness and new ideas to make heavy rock original and viable again. From the rather fantastic name to the uber-cool, post punk graphics that litter their site and posters.
If you lifted Rage Against The Machine out of the States and dropped them into Cork City. Throw in some traces of The Misfits, The Used, Rancid or maybe even early Therapy you may get close to where they're coming from. There are raucous but the very controlled aggression of vocals which successfully switch between a 'Rage' style rap to post punk singing to the trashy-but- very tight instrumentation. Throw in politically and socially sussed, articulate lyrics (especially on 'Catwalk Revolution' or 'The Desired Effect' ) with some cleverly arranged songs all done with an apparent passion for their subjects, you have a post modern punk rock, expertly executed and maintaining a the highest of standards.

In these days of record companies completely dictating styles of music and genres into neat little 'demographic boxes' ATE stretch the boundaries out a bit and open the mind as well as the ear in much the same way the RATM did back in the day. If you like your bands a bit more obvious and sitting in a nice polite space in HMV, it may not be for you, but I will definitely be looking out for ATE's debut album thats apparently in the pipeline, as every now and again a band pops up who successfully combine all the elements to produce something new and special. For my money Arm The Elderly have great qualities and even greater potential in spades. Excellent.
Review by Drumhead

RANK:****** 6 out of 6

www.myspace.com/armtheelderly

ARTIST OF THE MONTH MARCH 08

<img style="display:block; Permanent shade of undress by Tyrone Relph This song has a soft feel of nice folk jazz gutair work and some fantastic lyrics with some ass kicking vocals. ******

3. Off my chest by GDC (Gra Don Ceoil) upbeat with some catchy melodies this tune has the potential of commercial success in one hand the vocals both backing and main get to the point with simple harmonies but sounds well mixed. ****

4. Speak in tongues by Richie Marshall the vocals on this track sound like they have a mission and that's to impress the tune is well constructed and the dynamics has some good moves in the song this guy reminds me of Jeff Buckley with more of a passionate twist. ****

5. Walk on by Michael Whelan I had the privelige of getting this tune and reviewing it when it was a demo and i will stick to my guns on this one its deep and has a real moody feel to it, a bit like Chris Rea but more balls to the tune than Chris would do, the vocals have the husky vibes going down with blues screaming to get out ..superb. ******

6. Doctor please by Steve Duffy I love the harmonica piece in the intro the tune has a real anthem feel with some cool lyrics, you can feel the soul and moody tones that this song has its very charming and would sound super with a good backing band excellent stuff. *****

7. Freeloader by Eibhin Eviston The piano work in this tune gives the song a more soft and uplifting tone with the vocals streaming out some good dynamics bringing the tune in and out of some classy melodies. ****

8.Make you smile by Wayne Brennan I would class Wayne as a male version of Joni Mitchell full of folk and superb lyrics this is a super little number with sign me now written all over it excellent craftsman ship on the production on this song. ******

9. Don't rescue me by Christine Deadly I listen to this track a few times, you will too.. very unusual vocal i thought it was out of time but its not it is original with a twist of Irish trad mixed with some Cardigans style playing. ****

9.Black and blue by John Murphy There is a nice Irish folk feel from this tune the vocals sound more on the David Gray/Paddy Casey tone its got some cool lyrics and very catchy chorus this is a super tune but less of the F word and this is going places. ***

11.Van by Susie Donnelly This is a real strong vocal presence song with soft folk melodic tones from the vocals the tune has some awesome natural dynamics the lyrics are very well placed in parts, great qualities from this song and very listenable. *****

12.Zach snakes by Old Red Yeehaw with some Primus in the mix the tune has a raw upbeat rockabilly feel but with some super well thought lyrics thumbs up on this song its original ill give that. ******

This has to be one of the best compilation cd's yet of some future stars and believe me there is on this album, well done The Zodiac Sessions this is the nucleus of unborn talent.

Review by T.Halpin

RANK: ****** 6 out of 6

to get yourself a copy go to

http://www.myspace.com/thezodiacsessions

THE BEST OF 2007

Nicollette Varanelli
JAN 07 ARTIST OF THE MONTH
A superb voice that has a edge over the rest, this is a artist that can really express her vocals with excellent songs like "I DONT WANNA KNOW"and "SO CONFUSED" .
I DONT WANNA KNOW - This is a real catchy number with a good groove to it, vocals sound excellent with real passion in them, very well produced and the lyrics are great too.
SO CONFUSED - This tune has got a real 80,s feel with a modern r&b groove vocal has a hard edge with excellent tones great voice.
review by T.Halpin
STAR RANK ****** ROCK STAR
CHECK OUT THIS ARTIST AT
www.myspace.com/nicollettesings
AGE OF REASON
Artist of the month Feb 07'
ICU
EP REVIEW 10/sep/07
Age of Reason have put together another gem this two track ep is packed with lots of adrenaline and with a mixture of metal crushed with rock both in a perfect fusion, The first track " ICU " the use of effects in these track sound great with the concept of the tune Intensive care, the power coming from the guitars are giving the tune its deep metal feel with thumping drums to punch the rhythms into place. "HOME" This first track has a great feeling coming from the vocals with a blues tone soaked in passion, guitar on this track is great with some nice tricky melodies giving off a country blues feel. "ITCH" Sounds great with a nice uplifting melody. "GREY SKY BLUE" This has nice vocals that creep in with the piano, kind of a Lennon feel but very well composed and the lyrics are fantastic with a nice sing a long theme. "SLOW MY WHEELS" Good dynamic tune with a great chorus and nice groove in the verses with a flamenco feel kicking in to a country rock tune. " APOLOGISE" This song kicks in with a nice piano theme a real soft love song with some great lyrics and you can hear the passion from the vocals. "SO WRONG" This is a cool short country blues song with a great catchy chorus you will be singing after it is finished. "WE'LL SEE" The vocals sound fantastic on this track cutting through the back street jazz sound and a real sleazy trombone in the mix. "STANDING ON MY OWN TWO FEET" This tune gives off a real gospel feel from the vocals backed up with some great blues slide guitar. "FLYING" The vocals stand out in this tune with some great dynamics and nice lyrics to back up the soft melody. "BIRD IN A CAGE" This final song on the album is a beautiful love song with harmonic vocals and a nice jazz feel on the piano what a nice treat from a wonderful album by Celine Carroll.
Review by T.Halpin

STAR RANK ****** ROCK STAR 6 out of 6
You can check out Celine Carroll at
www.celinecarroll.com

DREW TICHNELL
ARTIST OF THE MONTH SEP/07
Exciting new talent from Austin,Texas,USA with a blend of sheryl crow and pink put together with excellent tones.
DAYS KEEP SLIPPING- This is a lovely melodic tune with a nice drum and bass beat kicking in the background, vocals are laid down really good on this track, song has has a real jazzy pop feel and acoustic work is excellent.
EVEN IF ITS SUNDAY- Hard driving groove brings this song in with Drews vocals, her voice is very relaxed over the melody, Drew seems to be able to front all styles of music but this style suits her to the ground.
reveiw by T.Halpin
STAR RANK: ****** ROCK STAR! 6 out of 6
YOU CAN CHECK OUT DREW AT
www.drewtichnell.com
http://www.myspace.com/drewtichnell

HYBRASIL
BAND OF
THE MONTH
OCT 07

(THE MONKEY POLE album review)
This is a five piece band from Wicklow Ireland, The Monkey Pole is a eleven tracks of electronic indie rock melodies and superb vocal abilities, "We got music" has a cool vibe leaks a bit like a happy Mondays tune but with a great rock vocal, this track will get your head moving in all directions. "San fran" great intro with the vocals, the drums holds down a great hypnotic beat, sounds a bit like an early Blur tune but with one step better than them. "Heads up" this tune has more of an 80" feel maybe it's the strait disco beat on the drums or the progressive synth its unique ill say that. "Getchoo" beat for beat note for note and word for word this tune has it all pure ambient with an indie twist. "A million moments" not one of my favs on the album but great vocals this is more of a suttle tune and laid back, maybe it's the chill out song. "Love is in you" this is a great concept for a tune with elements of a great rock guitar riff and indie dynamics its nice the way the vocal does a talking walking vibe through out this tune. "Gorillas" if you like Beck you will like this song it has a great 60's peaceful tone and kicks with a electronic grunge tone coming from the guitar, sweet. "God bless the devil" this is Hybrasil wrapped up in one package electronic synth melodies great solid beat and vocals to die for and I love the eastern vibe in the background. "If you feel" the peace revolution is here this has a great indie rock feel with fantastic vocals and backing vocals the harmony guitars work great, this track is were the keys go free and wild, peace. "When I'm yawning" this is where Beck meets Happy Monday's great vocals and the melody works fantastic with the tune. "Binary love" this song is more of an expression nice and laid back a bit different from Hybrasil has a hint of grunge to the vocals a bit like Nirvana but keeping the trade mark of electronic effects. Overall I found this album both very exciting and very enjoyable to listen to this one goes into the Musicreview cd rack.
Review by T.Halpin
RANK: ****** ROCK STAR
You can check out Hybrasil at
www.hybrasil.com
www.myspace.com/hybrasil

SUDDYN
BAND OF THE MONTH NOV 07

RADIO CITY DUBLIN 25th oct 07
Ep launch
The atmosphere on the night was electric when Suddyn hit the stage they hit it with pure explosive passion. The flow of rhythm coming from the piano was played with some classical feel and blending tones. The front man Alan sure was worthy of the grasping presence you could hear from his vocals, his voice was very expressive with a lot of passion in them. Jarrett the guitar player showed off some great moves and played some cracking riffs with a very melodic approach to the songs, I really like his originality very bluesy style but keeping it commercial, The bass player Colly has a real upbeat punk style and can hold the backbone melodies that you can feel from Suddyn. As for Bren on drums he pulled of a stormer of a solo on the night you could here the styles of John Bonham mixed in with Art Blakey super stuff, this is one band on the scene you have to see live, hats of to Suddyn great show.
Review by T.Halpin
GIG RATE: ****** Rock star 6 out of 6

All photos taken by Siobhan Quigley @ www.myspace.com/concert_pics

SUDDYN/Gravity : Review

"Uplifting melodic rock with the world at their feet Suddyn have hit the spot with this tune full of inspiring guitar and synth melodies, vocals have a great subtle tone and feel to them with some great catchy lyrics, Gravity has a pull with a addictive sound very well mixed and arranged superb stuff."
Review by T.Halpin
RATE: ****** ROCK STAR
You can check out Suddyn at
www.myspace.com/suddyn

LILA
ARTIST OF
THE MONTH
DEC 07

'Hold On' EP Review
Both of these songs are of a catchy pop/rock nature. From a great point of view there was a showcase of eight acts this is not an easy task trying to balance out the flavor of music through out the night with so many acts. Marc from Dublin Underground certainly pulled the night off with some fantastic music on the rise with live music until the wee hours of 2:30 am, this is one event well worth checking out as it will be one of Dublin’s finest places to find a showcase of emerging talent.
In the order of appearance I will give you a brief review of the night’s entertainment.
www.myspace.com/dublinunderground

EMMA O’REILLY
Emma gave a fine performance expressing her talent from nice cluster of cover songs, her vocal ability is very strong with plenty of passion in her voice. The backing band that stood in with Emma gave off more of an improvisation of the songs. Maybe they did not gel as well together but still pulled the gig of well on the night.
www.myspace.com/backspacelost

PAMELA CONNOLLY
Pamela has a very unique style in her voice the way that she words and phrases the lyrics are fantastic. Very professional stage presence. The audience was captured by Pamela’s vocals both very strong and very interesting, Pamela has a original style which is very hard to find in most acts that are emerging out there on the scene today. Top marks for Pamela on the night great show.
www.myspace.com/pamelaconnolly

LEANNE HARTE
Great to see Leanne again I had the pleasure of seeing Leanne at the Balcony TV awards. Leanne played with a full band back then, but tonight Leanne was doing a solo show it was a lot different I would have to say a little more mellow for Leanne, guitar playing was well executed and the tone from her vocal had very folk /blues style but gave an excellent feel to the set. I enjoyed the version of The Rocker “Thin lizzy” very powerful song yet Leanne brought it back to a more passionate blues version of the tune.
www.myspace.com/leannehartemusic

LA LOGE
This two piece act gave a great mood change to the night with very elegant style of blues with a jazzy tone, there was some nice licks and slide playing coming from the guitar and the lead singers voice has nice sharp jazz feel, It was a real good laid back show from La Loge.
www.myspace.com/lynneanddaragh

LITTLE NIGHTMARE
When this band came on the stage you could feel straight away you were going to be rocked they have some sweet melodies mixing them with the elements of ska and punk and grinding them together with metal, the lead singer has a powerful voice and can hold a note with no vein popping emotion. The band however could work a little better on the rhythm section as they where a bit loose but showing the full potential of a superb band.
www.myspace.com/littlenightmaremusic

MURDER PLAN
This five piece band had a plan up their sleeves and when they hit the stage with an abstract approach and with a megaphone in hand, with some great upbeat melodies, this must be part of an intro they use but the concept worked well. They have a nice feel to their music with some reggae/pop and blues melodies, the drummer was a bit loose and dropping a few beats but still held it together, they were jumping around a lot on stage with some good moves and humour towards the crowd.
www.myspace.com/murderplanb

JANEY MAC
Top class show from this band full of confidence, But I must take a bit of the chip off their shoulder. I would like to see them on a better night maybe they were tired or drunk or a mix of the both, the music and what they were trying to put across was almost expressed with raw punk with a fusion of dramatic poetry. The good point I would like to say about this band is they looked like they where enjoying themselves because they got the crowd rocking for sure.
www.myspace.com/janeymacmusic

ANIMAL CHANNEL
This is an emerging band on the scene and really impressed me with their set and the dancing fan club that follows them. They have a great stage presence about them and the music has some great catchy tunes with a nice pop rock feel with the potential of a real good career in todays market. Great show from the girls oops! Playing mostly covers, her voice hits out loud thrilling high notes and then challenges the deeper, softer and more emotive tracks. She brings a jazzy, funky female sound to each song and her voice would work well with a full band to charge her adapting, varying vocal charisma. There are no lazy moments to Clair’s performance, and the lyrics are drenched with changing and seductive dynamics.

Review by Claire Rushe
RATE: **** VERY GOOD 4 out of 6
You can check out this artist at
www.myspace.com/clairrooney

CEOLTOIR

Ceoltoir

Whelans Oct 22nd 2007

Ceoltoir announced their album launch in Whelans with a flood of musical tastes from the past students of their Trad course in Ballyfermot College of Further Education. Though most of the acts had to keep their appearance to a minimum, the show was an overwhelming introduction to the subtle flavors of the contemporary Irish Trad scene and we would like to see more.

Fast jigs and reels were promoted by precision and incredible whistle tempo, and these speeding drives were energized by slow low Bodhran beats and running high mandolin kicks. The arrangement of this alluring collection saw everything from energetic full band ballads to a captivating harp solo.

The main act saw Caoimhe Hogarty play both accompanied and acapelo tracks, where the instruments were well arranged to allow her powerful voice to achieve the highest points alone. The high and low ends of this Trad performance were vastly separated from each other, giving the complicated and purposeful task to the melody, to run its mesmerizing compliance between the two. Accomplished flawlessly, the musicians demonstrated that the Irish Trad scene is not only alive and active, but still young and with many places to go.
Review by Claire Rushe
You can check out this band at
www.myspace.com/ceoltoirbcfe

SEANNIE FOY

SEANNIE FOY
(Further Down That Rocky Road album review)

From Ireland and you would not think so, he formed Those Handsome Devils back in the 80's and moved on to release this compelling album of 50's style rock n roll covers with 13 tracks of a great selection of pure rhythm and blues magic, The image the vocals and the playing style Seannie has it to a tee, he does a great version of 20th Century Boy on this album amongst many others but this one stuck out most to me with his unique vocals and guitar strumming with passion he rips this tune a new ass hole excellent stuff, The King and Eddie Cochran meet Seannie Foy. looking forward to hearing some of his original music I hear is due for release pretty soon.
Review by T.Halpin

RATE: ***** EXCELLENT 5 out of 6
You can check out Seannie at

www.myspace.com/seanniefoy

SENECA

SENECA

‘Smile’ EP review

Seneca eases quite a safe sound with both of these tracks. ‘Smile’ is a soft song, while the style becomes more assured and balanced in ‘So Beautiful’ with fuller sounds and a little more drama to the technique.
The smooth vocals are easily associated with this style. The songs do not narrate themselves from one stage to the next, but enter into complex experiments with sounds. Their music is without the richness and instrumental arrangement necessary for a good recording quality, and the recorded tracks are quite detached from the atmosphere of their animated song writing. Thomas uses the instrument outside of any normal boundaries. Sounding at times like drums, piano, or cello, the performance is a finely tuned collision of unusual guitar use. These cascading sounds and experimental techniques are brought together beautifully with the detailed precision of a complex but striking arrangement. Thomas puts the same level of ingenuity to his guitar that the under-stage microphones brought to the Riverdance. His stage presence is a solo exploration of guitar tastes; a brilliant and crazy performance everyone should see at least once.
Review by Claire Rushe
GIG RATE : ****** ROCK STAR
you can check out Thomas at
www.myspace.com/thomasleeb

new....

CLICK HERE FOR THE WEBSITE MUSICREVIEW

INTERVIEWS

16/8/07

Name of Artist/Band: Ger Flannigan (DJ)
What is your background: Club DJ
Why do you want to record and release your own music? Dipped in and out as a session player. And never entered the Eurovision Song Contest!!

Why do you want to record and release your own music?

For me, as a creative person, there has to be a begining, a middle and an end to songwriting. First of all, I write to get the demons out or sometimes the Angels.. If I'm happy with what I've created, I guess the next step is to share it with others. I enjoy the recording process because it's that little step further into creativity. And then to be able to put it into someone's hand and say 'Hey, take a listen, hope you like it'. That's a good feeling. Or send it out over the ether as the case may be today!!

What are your songs about?

About 3 Mins long!! That's the short answer.. I tend to write about the obvious..' The Human Condition.' How I treat that particular subject varies from song to song.

The heart is a great muse..We all have one, so we can all relate to something written about it. Also, when I'm away, I tend to write about going home. And when I'm home I sometimes write about travelling, moving on..Weird!!

Do you write your own songs?

Yep..I tend to write mostly on my own, with the guitar or at the piano. The lyrics and music are almost always written in tandem.

I have co-written with some really great people..But the thing about co-writing is, It's a bit like going on a blind date, if you know what I mean. You're kinda at the mercy of each other!! Luckily I've had some cool, productive 'blind-dates'!!

Who are your musical influences?

I suppose the original great American Songwriters, Cole Porter, the Gershwins, far too many to mention. Then of course The Beatles, especially McCartney, for his melody in particular. Of course Lennon...Together the most sucessful blind-date of all time!!

Other artist, James Taylor, The Eagles, all at the Brill building, Gilbert O' Sullivan, what a writer!!, Jimmy McCarthy, Walter Hyatt, Lucinda Williams, a few classical heads.... tons of people..

How do you describe your music to people?

Great songs, Great Sentiment, Honesty and a lot of Humour thrown in for good measure

What image do you think your music conveys?

I've been told on more than one occasion that my music is very cinematic. I don't think you can narrow it down to a single image. Different songs convey different emotions. I do think my songs are like short stories. And I do wear my heart on my sleeve alot. But I would like to think that there's an honesty about what I do. Is honesty an image??

What are your immediate music career goals?

The plan is to do more live performances for the latter part of this year. So full houses would be something to aim for!! Get some more songs recorded at a reasonable rate!!

Get my music to as many ears as possible. Oh yeah and shift a few cds in the process!!

What are your long-term career goals?

That's a bit like that horrible question...'Where do you see yourself in five years time?' I suppose to be the best success I can possibly be in this business called Show!! To be able to write great songs, record them and have people buy them would be great. If anything, it puts food on the table.. I would love to get some songs covered by other sucessful artists, that would be a great honour. Grammy, Oscar, etc.... I will always write songs. It's what I do, It's what I am.

How would you define the word “success”?

Happiness, peace of mind..That about sums it up for me.

Are you looking for an independent label deal or a major label deal?

I'm looking for the best route forward in order to get my music out to the world!!

Do you have a demo or press kit, or any promotional materials?

Yep, EPK..It's all on Sonicbids and also on my myspace page. I've also a show on You Tube called CELINE CARROLL '2 NEW SONGS IN A DIFFERENT SHIRT', where I showcase my songs. The songs change on each show as well as the shirts!!

What live performance experience have you had?

With various bands and as a solo artist I guessed I've played in every phone box in this country!! I've played a couple of shows in Chicago. And I've played some shows in Nasville...the Bluebird Cafe, to name one...all us songwriters out there know about that place!!

Currently with the band, we've been playing alot at Bewleys, Dublin.

How do you rate your live performance ability?

I think I'M BLOODY BRILLIANT LOL!!....I do feel that I connect with my audience. I feel it onstage and the feedback from them is alway encouraging. I love performing. So that's the battle won. Whether I'm playing solo or with the band, the vibe is always there. 'When people pay good money to see you, you better be on form'..That's the way I approach every show that I do. You owe it to them. And most times...they come back to see you again.

Have you recorded any previous CDs?

Yep..Two cds..'Catch You As You Fall' and the current cd, 'Itch'. At the moment, I'm in the preproduction stages of the next baby!!

What are your 3 favourite songs and why?

Living, breathing and sleeping music, that's a tough one. But I would say, in no particular order, purely depending on my mood....

1. 'Maybe I'm amazed' by Paul McCartney, for his sheer raw vocal delivery and his passionate lyric..Ya see, the human condition.

2.' The Look Of Love' by Bacharach and David. It has to be Dusty Springfield's version. This seductive lyric and her intimate vocal on this record just blows me away everytime I hear it. It sends me to that special place, if ya know what I mean..Once again..the human condition.

3. It has to be 'The Candyman' by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse, performed by Sammy Davies Jnr. I dare anyone to listen to this song and not break out in a smile!! This song has everything going for it. Pure poetry, beautiful imagery, humour, passion, wonderful production and that 'inner child' quality.. After all, I think we're all kids at heart..The only way to survive, especially us songwriters. Yet again, the Human Condition..I rest my case!!

Have you had any previous print or broadcast media exposure or reviews?

Yep, I've been written about..I get airplay every once in a while..when Westlife are in the recording studio. It's all in the blog.. on myspace and on http://www.celinecarroll.com/

READ THE CELINE CARROLL REVIEW HERE

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

21/8/07

Name of Artist/Band?
Kiernan McMullan

What is your background?
I once met chip and dale the rescue rangers in Orlando and I used to watch a lot of Ninja Turtles but other than that its been music. Started with piano lesson and sorta didn't practice but ended up taking it up again at 14 and guitar and a few other instruments. I grew up listening to Hip Hop but as I a got older i started listening to all sorts of rock, pop, jazz, electro, and even drum and bass.

Why do you want to record and release your own music?
Because I want to have an excuse to play it live every night. I love touring and playing live.

What are your songs about?
They can be about anything, I've written songs about Criminals, School, Life, and even Simon Cowell. Also the odd love song, but I cant stand it when you buy a cd and its 15 love songs in a row. There is other stuff to write about....

Do you write your own songs?
Absolutely, I mean if I like another artist I'm always up for a collaboration but I couldnt sing songs every night with any conviction if they were written by someone else and didnt mean anything to me, although we have covered the odd song...

Who are your musical influences?
I've always been more a fan of the American Singer/Songwriter (John Mayer, Dave Matthews, Ben Harper) scene than the Irish one because for the most part in the states its a lot more upbeat and free to genre-hop. Over here i think they limit themselves a lot to the introspective rainy day music that is great....in moderation! I've also always been a big Hip Hop fan (Jurassic 5, People Under the Stairs) not modern rap which is soulless to a point where its funny but realy lyrical rap; and i've also been getting into stuff like Air and Zero 7 recently. Man every genre has good music in it ya just have to look!

How do you describe your music to people?
Its like going to the airport, arriving late, getting drenched in rain, being held up in customs, but then getting bumped up to first class. (haha) I like it anyway

What image do you think your music conveys?
Well I try to make it as a whole uplifting. I think it tells stories at times, but for the most part i think it can relate to a lot of people

What are your immediate music career goals?
Well at the moment we are in working on album number 2. That should be released here and in America next Spring and from there on in its just doin what I love...touring

What are your long-term career goals?
My one long-term career goal is to have a long term career! I would like to be playing music for the rest of my life. So anything else that comes my way is a bonus as long as I can do this for a living for a long long time!

How would you define the word “success”?
For me it would be being able to do what you want to do forever. In a way its all about being happy with the way things have turned out. You need to be proud of what you've done to be successful. If 5 million people by your records and you dont like what your doing then you've failed. YOU have to like it first.

Are you looking for an independent label deal or a major label deal?
Well I'm looking to release the secong album on various indie labels. To be honest the idea of a Major Label is becoming more and more void these days. There are more and more bands on Indie Labels surpassing the success of the latter.

Do you have a demo or press kit, or any promotional materials?
Yea you can check out the digital press kit at www.sonicbids.com/kiernanmcmullan or just email on noiseannoysmanagement@gmail.com

What live performance experience have you had?
All across the board!(haha) Good and bad, you meet some mad people out there, but more good than bad. I once played in a place the size of a closet unplugged. The gigs like that are really special. The more intimate, the more personal.

How do you rate your live performance ability?
I would like to think that people who come to our shows come away thinkin that the cd doesnt do justice. When I have the band with me its really high energy and fun.

Have you recorded any previous CDs?
Yea I put out my first record, "New Age Robin Hood" in 2006 and we only recently put out the single Borderline into shops and www.downloadmusic.ie

What are your 3 favourite songs and why?
-Paul Simon-You Can Call Me Al
Its the most feel good song ever and just really never gets old
-Dave Matthews Band- Grey Street
Its really just the tip of the ice berg of a great collection
-Gavin De Graw- Meaning
Lyrics!!

Have you had any previous print or broadcast media exposure or reviews?
Yea a bunch check the sonicbids press pack for some of them.

KIERNAN MCMULLAN CLICK HERE TO READ THE REVIEW

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

23/8/07

Name of Artist/Band? Fiach

What is your background? From Dublin...is that what ya mean?

Why do you want to record and release your own music? Nirvana, Beatles, Elvis, Bill Withers, Pearl Jam, Irsh Trad

How do you describe your music to people? A cross between Iraqi jazz and the matnig call of the West Australian Tiger Panda.....I really can't describe it. Best to leave that to someone else....like a Music Reviewer...hmmmmmm

What image do you think your music conveys? Not really for me to say either. Hoefully it makes people feel good

What are your immediate music career goals? Record an album

What are your long-term career goals? Just to be able to live comfortably solely through own music

How would you define the word “success”? Andrew Handrick

What is your background? Originally from Dublin, started off playing drums in various bands before going solo, though I did front my own band for about a year before heading off to San Francisco for a while.

Why do you want to record and release your own music? writing music is what I do so it's only natural to want others to hear my songs and the best way of doing that is to release it.

What are your songs about? Relationships, love, life and all the experiences I have had while roaming the planet.

Do you write your own songs? Elvis, The Rolling Stones, REM, The Jam, The Who, Neil Young, Dean Martin, Simon and Garfunkel... the list is endless...

How do you describe your music to people? thats always a tough one.. I usually call it edgy folk rock with literate lyrics... but to be honest they are just songs I write.. other people categorise them...

What image do you think your music conveys? I'd like to think heart felt honesty about life experience.

What are your immediate music career goals? I am currently writing and recording new material for either an EP or an album, have not decided yet.

What are your long-term career goals? to release more albums, tour more in the US, Canada and possibly Japan. Basically to just keep doing what I am doing.

How would you define the word “success”? well on a good day I think success is being able to do what you love.. and I am lucky that I can.

Are you looking for an independent label deal or a major label deal? I would consider either, depending on the deal offered. These days you don't need a deal, just a lot of persistence and a little luck.

Do you have a demo or press kit, or any promotional materials? I have an album "The True Riches Of Life" available at www.cdbaby.com/cd/andrewhandrick and on i-tunes and of course my website www.andrewhandrick.com not to forget good old www.myspace.com/andrewhandrick, there are also some videos there.

What live performance experience have you had? He sings it with such passion and lyrically its beautiful.

Gimme Shelter by The Rolling Stones. It's got such a seedy, raw feel to it..sends a shiver down my spine.

The Only Living Boy in New York by Simon and Garfunkel. Love the vocals and the whole feel to the song musically..very pure...

Have you had any previous print or broadcast media exposure or reviews? artist from Toledo, Ohio,USA, with his new Ep ONE OF THOSE DAY'S with a mixture of funk and r&b style grooves and has the voice to back it up, a real cool cat with songs like "SLOW DOWN" and "ONE OF THOSE DAY'S" you can feel how much funk Chavar has running in his veins, excellent stuff.
SLOW DOWN - A cool funky beat in this tune with nice groove coming from the gutair, vocals have a great tone with funk elements, a good easy listener with plenty of motion to make you want to dance, sounds great.
WHAT'S YOUR NAME - A laid back tune with a r&b feel to it, gutair has a cool blues feel coming from the riff, vocals comes across with a r&b tone yet very relaxed through out the song with some good lyrics to add to it.
review by on the scene in Dublin with some catchy tunes and in your face attitude, futuristic melodic punk is a few words to describe what your in for, excellent stuff.
LEND ME YOUR FACE - A good catchy number with a great upbeat melody with a weird 80's synth melody flowing over the song, vocals have all the elements of a true punk voice crusted with a grunge in your face feel to them, this song makes you feel you want to hit something.... great tune.
BATTLESTATIONS - A cool melodic song with a dark side to it, some great work on the synth, vocals could not shout any />MICHAEL HARGAN
LIVE AT WHELANS,DUBLIN,IRELAND
WED 03/JAN/07
(A true genius in the art of songwriting, excellent vocals full of passion.)
Michael really knows how relax his audience with his witty a funny comments in between his songs giving off the vibe of a true professional musician, with songs like "REMEDY" excellent rhythm gutair with bursting colourfull lyrics, the song went down really well. I had a small chat with Micheal before the gig and he told me he was really tired from all the traveling he was doing, but i could see no effect when played the night without a glitch and controlled the night very well, sadly the night came to a end when he finished out with "MEXICO" another track from his album "CONVERSATIONS BETWEEN US" a real moving tune Michael played the song with a lot of passion you could feel the energy coming from this song, overall it was a superb performance from Michael on the night.
review by T.Halpin
STAR RANK - ****** Rock Star!
YOU CAN CHECK OUT MICHAEL AT www.myspace.com/mhargan
